About this website

With this website I hope to present as complete a survey of David Larson's work as possible. I envisioned this to be a sort of online museum, documenting the evolution of David's art and the full range of his artistic vision.

While it is a large site with hundreds of works, it has probably less than half of his total output as an artist. Many works, especially early ones, can't be accounted for or were never photographed. I hope over time to gather more information and images of these works and will update the site periodically. Additionally many works, even recent ones, were sold or given away before David or I had a chance to photograph them. In this regard, if you own a work by my father and you don't see it on the website I would be most grateful if you could e-mail me about the work. The e-mail address is davidlarson@larsonstudio.com.

Also there remain many works on paper and foamcore that we have but I have yet to photograph. I will add more of these works to the website over time.

In order to make this site as informational as possible, I linked many sketches or studies with the final paintings. Additionally one can also get a sense of David's creative process by looking though sketchbooks on the sketchbook selections page. David left dozens of sketchpads and as I get a chance to photograph them I will add more to that page, so please check back later.

The artist page will become in time a full biography of David's life, so please keep checking back if seeing that interests you. The gallery page will also be updated with a complete history of the gallery and the factory it's part of.

My ultimate goal for the next two years is to publish an art book of David's work. Depending on how progress goes I will begin to post sections of that on the web site as they reach a finished state.

Of course nothing compares to seeing the work firsthand, so please try to visit the gallery in South Penobscot, Maine during the Summer.
